Latvian Museum of Photography

The Latvian Museum of Photography was opened in 1993 and is a branch of the Museum of the History of Riga and Navigation. Its permanent exhibition "The Development of Photography in Latvia 1839-1941" is based on the acquisitions of the Museum of the History of Riga and Navigation, other Latvian museums and the collection of the photo historian Peteris Korsaks. It has been supplemented with a special room arranged like a photographic studio at the outset of the 20th century. In ten years the collection of the museum has increased by 10 000 items.
