Medzabaki Hotel is the perfect destination for someone who’s tired of the hustle and bustle of city life. It’s only 35km away from Riga City but it sits at the bank of Lilates River. Medzabaki hotel is surrounded by lush, green landscapes in spring, and rolling white hills during winter. It screams of nature for someone who’s looking for a quick getaway from the city life’s strenuous workload. Business groups also find the property perfect for their regular seminars because it’s near enough the center to make travel convenient, yet far enough from its night life to make relaxation possible.

Medzabaki Hotel houses a total of 40 guestrooms. This includes two suites, nineteen doubles, twelve singles, and seven mansard rooms. Three conference rooms which can accommodate 20 to 120 persons at any one time are also available upon reservation. Technical equipment for these conference rooms includes microphones, video projectors, slide projectors, TV sets, flipcharts, and screens. Food and beverage may be requested from the hotel kitchen, if necessary.

Guests who prefer more private accommodations may rent cottages instead. Medzabaki Hotel offers 14 cottages for interested guests. Each cottage can accommodate two persons comfortably, and includes a shower, a toilet, a television set, and a small kitchen.

Medzabaki Hotel also has swimming pool and sauna facilities for the guest’s relaxation. Overall, their amenities get a three-star-rating.

Medzabaki guests may choose to dine at the summer terrace which overlooks Lilaste Lake. A cozy fireplace keeps the hotel lounge warm during winter days.

Dodo Hotel, which is built under the principle of a low cost hotel, is only 15 minutes away from Riga’s Old Town on foot. It’s the perfect hotel for families and groups of young people who are off to visit Latvia on a tight budget. Just because the hotel costs less that other hotels doesn’t mean it gives substandard services, though. Dodo Hotel is just minimal in every way. It gives its guests the comfort of a standard hotel, but doesn’t overcharge their clients by making them pay for services which they didn’t avail of. High class hotels charge a lot because it costs a lot to maintain their facilities. Dodo Hotel keeps things simple but comfortable for the tourist or traveler who simply wants to enjoy Riga’s many attractions.

Dodo Hotel is a 20 minute drive from the airport and a 5 minute walk from the shopping vicinity. If you’re visiting Latvia primarily to explore the Old Town of Riga City, then the Dodo hotel is perfect for you. The only downside to this hotel is that it offers only non-smoking rooms. This is, of course, an advantage for families with children who are prone to respiratory problems. Dodo Hotel’s air is totally smoke free. It houses 109 rooms with flat screen TV, hairdryer, wireless internet connection, and double or single beds. Family rooms which can accommodate two adults and two children are also available.

It’s safe to say that Dodo is a child-friendly hotel. It offers buffet breakfast for a low price of $4.90, which includes French pancakes with a variety of toppings, and a huge selection of beverages including juices and coffee. Breakfast at Dodo Hotel is served between 7:00am to 10:00 am.

The Bura Hotel in Kipsala is every water sports fanatic’s dream destination. It sits at the bank of river Daugava which is only a few minutes drive from the Latvian center, Riga City. Guests may also enter the property via motorboat from the Daugava River if the wish. The Bura Hotel offers three-star accommodations for friends, family, and business groups who are out to enjoy the outdoors without leaving the comforts of modern world’s technology.

Each room of the Bura Hotel has its own wide screen plasma TV which is connected to satellite shows. The rooms also have wireless internet connection, air conditioning, telephone, hair dryer, a mini bar and a desk. Ironing boards and safes may be requested from the front desk. Guests can choose among single, double, or triple bedrooms. The room charges do not include breakfast, but this could be added to your package for a very minimal fee.

For business groups who are planning to hold daytrip meetings at the Bura Hotel, a huge conference room which sits up to 70 persons can be made available. The friendly staff of the Bura hotel will be more than willing to assist you with the technical equipment needed for your presentations if you do decide to make use of the facility.

The Bura Hotel may be small but it’s comfortable enough to accommodate around 20 persons at any one time. It’s strategic location and affordable rates make it one of the most visited guest houses in the vicinity. Depending on the season, guests may enjoy water sports and activities like boating journeys, aerodium, water skiing, water wakeboarding, wind surfing, and kite surfing. Compared to other Latvian hotels, the Bura Hotel is more the outdoorsy individual’s hotel.

Limo and executive car services may be requested through the front desk.

Approximately an hour and a half’s drive from Riga is the Dikli Palace Hotel in Valmiera.

Keeping in step with Riga City’s Art Nouveau is the new definition for “cozy”. The Xcelsus Guesthouse, which is only a 15 minute drive from the city center, exceeds both the expectations of a three-star-hotel and a guesthouse. Located at the quiet neighborhood of Ramava, Xcelsus is a haven for any business group looking for a snazzy modern sanctuary which doesn’t sacrifice privacy. If we were talking about a drink, Xcelsus would be a clean, dry shot of cold martini on a summer day.

The architecture of the guesthouse is minimalist modern, which is aimed at providing all the comfort a cosmopolitan guest would need without overstuffing his/her breathing space with dank wood and drab draperies. Everything in Xcelsus is crafted to be refreshingly good.

The guesthouse can accommodate a total of 50 guests at any one time. It has a sauna complex where business groups and families could stay and relax after a long day’s seminar. Because it is geared to serve professionals who are looking for accommodations which are private enough but up to date, Xcelsus has two function rooms which are perfect for seminars and banquets.

The Eastern Room with an area of 45 meter sq. can sit up to 40 individuals. It’s perfect for a big meeting or over-the-weekend business seminar. Banquets and wedding receptions, on the other hand, can be held in the Western Room, which can sit up to 150 persons at any one time.

The food in Xcelsus is also excellent. The menu boasts of exquisite French cuisine and sweet delicacies. Native Latvian coffee is served throughout the day.

For a three-star-hotel, the Europa City Hotel in Riga sure is a mouthful. It’s the perfect hotel for the business traveler who’s more into the fast-paced lifestyle of modern Riga than the country feel of its Old Town.

The rooms in Europa City Hotel in Riga are reminiscent of sixties architecture with simple, dark wooden furnishings and minimalist but snazzy interior design. Although lacking in variety, all 143 rooms of the hotel boast of complete modern amenities including wireless internet connection, air conditioning, mini bar, satellite TV, and many more.

Because it’s made for business as well as pleasure, the hotel houses two conference rooms with modern technical facilities. The bigger conference room can house up to 100 delegates, while the smaller room can accommodate up to 40 people. Reservations for the use of this conference rooms may be made at the front desk or through phone prior to the visit.

The hotel truly comes alive at night when both hotel guests and city residents enjoy Riga’s lively nightlife. The first floor of the hotel houses the famous Sunny Restaurant and Banquet which serves only the finest Latvian cuisine. Open since 2006, the restaurant continues to attract hundreds of guests from all over Europe because of its impressive menu, impeccable service and chic, modern aura.

The top floor of Europa City Hotel Riga comes alive in neon as the city’s best jazz musicians grace Riga’s Friday and Saturday evenings at the Jazz Bar and Hall. Cocktails and light snacks are served here too.
